Emergence Lab: From a Capstone Project to a Technology Venture

18 Jan, 2018

In 2018, three undergraduate students from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) developed a successful robotics system as part of their CSE299: Junior Capstone Project. What began as an academic requirement soon became the foundation of a long-term vision.

Three students: Dibya Prokash Sarker (Partner), Md Atiqul Islam (Managing Partner), Md Fahim Farden (Partner) later established Emergence Lab, a technology and robotics-focused venture.

The capstone project was completed under the supervision of Ms. Tamanna Motahar, whose academic guidance and research-driven direction played a significant role in shaping the project into a practical and scalable initiative.

🎓 An Academic Project with a Broader Vision

CSE299: Junior Capstone typically helps students develop skills in:
• Problem analysis
• Solution design
• Hardware software integration
• Teamwork and professional presentation

However, for these three students, the project represented more than coursework. They recognized that:
• Technology should not remain confined to the classroom.
• With proper execution, it can create measurable real-world impact.

🤖 From Robotics to Real-World Application

The robotics project incorporated:
• Sensor-based data collection
• Automated data processing
• Embedded control logic
• Real-time response mechanisms

After successfully demonstrating and completing the evaluation of the project, they decided to transform their experience and technical foundation into a structured technology enterprise.

🌱 The Establishment of Emergence Lab

Emergence Lab officially emerged from this capstone initiative. What started as an academic robotics project gradually expanded into work involving:
• Web and software development
• Hardware solutions
• Robotics research and prototyping
• Technology-driven educational initiatives

Today, Emergence Lab operates as a growing technology venture committed to building practical and sustainable solutions for real-world challenges.

💡 Our Belief

We believe that a capstone project is not merely an academic requirement; it can become the seed of a future enterprise.

The journey of Emergence Lab demonstrates that with proper guidance, teamwork, structured planning, and determination, a university project can evolve into a sustainable technology venture.

🔥 Moving Forward

Our journey began with a robotics capstone project. Today, our mission is to contribute meaningfully to Bangladesh’s technological advancement through innovation, research, and practical implementation.
