In 2018, three undergraduate students from the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) department developed a successful robotics project as part of their CSE299: Junior Capstone Project. This project was not just an academic achievement—it became the beginning of a long-term vision.
The project was carried out by three students— Dibya Prokash Sarker, Md. Atiqul Islam, and Md. Fahim Fardin. Their capstone project was completed under the guidance of their respected supervisor Tamanna Motahar. Her academic mentorship and research-oriented guidance played a vital role in successfully implementing the project.
An Academic Project with a Bigger Vision
The CSE299: Junior Capstone course usually teaches students about:
• Problem analysis
• Solution design
• Hardware-software integration
• Teamwork and presentation skills
However, for these three students, it became the beginning of something much bigger. They realized that:
• Technology should not remain limited within the classroom.
• With proper implementation, it can create meaningful change in society.
From Robotics to Real-World Applications
Their robotics project included:
• Sensor-based data collection systems
• Automated data processing
• Embedded control logic
• Real-time response mechanisms
After successfully demonstrating and completing the evaluation of the project, they realized that the experience and skills they had gained could eventually lead to the creation of a technology company.
From Idea to Institution
Building on the experience of the capstone project and years of planning, Emergence Lab was officially established on January 4, 2022. The organization is led by:
• Dibya Prokash Sarker — Partner & Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
• Md. Atiqul Islam — Managing Partner & Chief Operating Officer (COO)
• Md. Fahim Fardin — Partner & Chief Technology Officer (CTO)
Activities of Emergence Lab
Starting from an academic initiative, Emergence Lab gradually expanded its work into various technology-driven sectors, including:
• Web and software development
• Hardware solution development
• Robotics research and prototype development
• Technology-based educational programs
Today, Emergence Lab is an emerging technology initiative dedicated to developing effective and sustainable solutions to real-world problems through innovation and technology.
What We Believe
We believe that:
• A capstone project is not just an academic requirement; it can become the foundation of a future company.
The journey of Emergence Lab proves that:
• With proper guidance, teamwork, planning, and courage, a university project can evolve into a sustainable technology venture.
Moving Forward
What started as a robotics capstone project in 2018 has now grown into a full-fledged technology organization. Our goal is to contribute meaningfully to Bangladesh’s technology sector and build the future through innovation.
